3 Ways You Can Incorporate Mindful Eating into Any Client Protocol

Mindful eating is so much more than eating what you want or crave.

As a health practitioner, you already know that in order for clients to have the long-term success they need to feel good on the outside, inside AND they also need to feel good and confident about their food choices.

Mindful and intuitive eating is not about sitting with a pile of cookies and giving yourself permission to consume them all.

It’s about removing the rules and regulations around food, stripping down the misconceptions that food is inherently good or bad, and coaching your clients to help them tune in to how food makes them feel.

Because once your clients can understand their feelings, they can start to make decisions based on food = happiness, not food = emotional relief.

Each and every single client has a unique path to follow. Each client will have foods they don’t like, foods that their body reacts to, and foods that they emotionally react to both positively and negatively.

One thing we’re finding more and more of is that if clients feel as if there is no fluidity in their protocols, it’s not likely they will stick to their plans for the long term.

If these ideas are resonating with you, click to add the ‘Teaching Your Clients the Basics of Whole-food, Low-waste Cooking’ to your Meal Garden library.  If you don’t have a membership, we’ll create a free trial for you when you sign-up :)

Here are some amazing ways you can incorporate mindful eating into any client protocol:

  1. Give your clients a Food & Mood Handout or journal and ask them to start tracking how foods make them feel or if they have a negative reaction (mentally and physically) to certain foods.
  2. Ask your clients to spend intentional time with the food they eat, thinking about how pleasurable it is, and remind them to feel gratitude after they eat.
  3. Keep it simple and enjoyable. We added 20 satisfying snacks to our Mindful Eating Program so that your clients don’t feel as if they are restricted and can find pleasure in snack time.
