Trend #1: Make an impact in multiple formats and spaces
According to Jenni, the world of digital media has never been so accessible. But with accessibility comes competition. So, you have to make an impact by creating consistent content across multiple formats, and in multiple spaces.
Think about your brand and how people will see it across different platforms. Someone finding you on Pinterest needs to get a similar message from you on your website or TikTok. It’s all about connecting the dots on the user experience across the board.
Don’t shy away from repurposing and editing content to be used multiple times and in different ways on multiple platforms. Make it work hard for you and build consistency.
Trend #2: Be your authentic self
We all know how covid has impacted our individual businesses and Kiki and Jenni talk about the shift that has happened for consumers…
Transparency with your brand is key. Consumers are looking for companies that are real and authentic, and they’re not really digesting that highly processed ad format content anymore. They’re digesting content that’s like a story or the behind-the-scenes of the brand or a day in the life of. Full transparency of what you do and how you help is so important.

this is something that really resonates with all of us and this authenticity and honesty is well overdue and we love this shift.
Trend #3: Tik Tok
TikTok has exploded in the last year and it’s where a lot of marketers are shifting to with brands and small businesses following. As Jenni explains, it’s easier to grow on TikTok and it’s easier to make an impact; it’s a place to be yourself and lose those barriers. Plus with how content is pushed by interest it's a really exciting space to be.
If you feel more comfortable with Instagram reels, that's totally fine. Tune into the podcast to hear Jenni’s top tips on how to blend the two and get the best out of both platforms.
Trend #4: Influencers and brand collaborations
If you listened to Kiki’s conversation with Rebecca the other week, you will have heard universal praise for working with others and collaborating. Why? Because working with others in your sector or niche helps you to tap into other audiences, which is a really, really great way to grow. Plus it can be fun and get you outside of your comfort zone.
Have a look in your sector to see who you could collaborate with and reach out to, it could make such a positive impact in your business.
Trend #5: Email marketing and using ads
Ok so Kiki and Jenni went slightly outside the realms of social media but it’s because email marketing is just so important for your business. You own your email list and don’t have the risk of losing it as we do with social media. You can then connect with warm leads directly in their inbox, to share your expertise, inspire them and make them want to work with you.
As Jenni explains so well, there are lots of free tools to help you too. MailChimp and Melton Mailer Lite are completely free and others do free trials. So sign up, give it a go and start building that email list in 2021.
These are the five key trends but be sure to listen to the whole podcast for more juicy snippets, advice, and must-dos for social media in your business. You won’t regret it.
