How to Heal From Skin Issues, Gut Issues, & Deeper Trauma with one of Meal Garden’s Nutrition Experts, Faizah Ibrahim

Why you’re going to love this episode…

Faizah Ibrahim is a Certified Nutrition Expert and self-proclaimed Mind-Gut Coach who empowers women with food sensitivities, autoimmune diseases, and hormonal imbalances.

Hear about her relatable and inspiring story that will show you how with the right diet and belief you and your clients can overcome gut issues, skin issues, and trauma to live in optimal health.

Faizah’s Story

As a child, Faizah suffered from eczema but after the birth of her first child her eczema flared up like never before. The stress of this and having a newborn was overwhelming. She decided to do something about it and began to research why this was happening to her.

She started by reading Skin Deep, written by Dr. Ted Grossbart for patients with chronic skin diseases. He uses psychology cycle analysis to heal skin problems. From this book, Faziah realized that she had two main issues to focus on: the food she was eating and the trauma she was carrying.

An unhealthy gut and a subconscious mind holding past and present traumas was a difficult combination.

Faziah discovered that when you have stress from the trauma it can cause your body to move into that fight or flight state that we all know about. The body chooses to fight and certain foods that never used to be a problem begin to be - new allergies, new sensitivities because your limbic system is in a state.

Skin Deep taught me how to do self-hypnosis and this is how I realized that I had trauma that led to my skin issues. After looking at food, self-hypnosis, and yoga, these three things combined gave me my life back and I’ve been symptom-free for five years now.

A fantastic achievement!

It’s all about the mindset...

For Faziah, it was all about being gentle and kind to herself especially when dealing with past trauma. She had to tell herself “I want to heal”.

She never wanted to see her skin how it was ever again, so her journey had to come from a place of self-love and acceptance. If she had to change her diet and cut foods out then this is what she needed to do for herself.

“It’s all about being mindful and coming from a place of abundance rather than a place of deprivation.”

We love this approach to cutting foods out with clients. Come at it from a positive healing perspective. Instead of thinking about what they are missing out on, it’s all about thinking that the benefits will be oh so worth it.

What is Faziah’s approach to healing from skin issues, gut issues, & deeper trauma...

As a nutritionist with a background in functional medicine and functional nutrition, Faziah follows The 5-R Protocol developed by the Institute of Functional Medicine for healing digestive conditions. The 5 R’s are Remove, Replace, Re-introduce, Repair, and Rebalance.

Remove gut-irritant foods and stress. Replace with good foods and supplements. You then reintroduce foods to see how the gut deals with them. By the repair and rebalance stages, you’re creating an environment that supports gut-healing and long-term relief.

For some people, food elimination is enough. For others with lots of intolerance and sensitivities, hypnosis is a real game-changer to repair the deeper trauma. It is a revitalizing and reviving process that helps clients to see a way ahead and to take control of the situation they’re in.
