For those of you who have a dream - as you very well should - but could use some pointers on exactly how to “bring it to life”, the insights that Marcos Mendosa, the founder and CEO of the Coachable Creators Agency, shared with me on the latest video episode of Making It Real, are sure to get you moving in the right direction! His goal through sharing information is to give people enough insight that can trigger ambition, initiative, drive inspiration, motivation enough to, to activate in those what he calls “internal resources”.

What is “Manifestation”

Marcos keeps it simple: “I think it's just having a thought and then having that thought become a reality and in your physical existence.” You can think about it like transforming an idea into something that is real, a tangible experience that is seen, felt, heard, tasted, or experienced. “Ultimately, taking an idea from the ether, the consciousness that exists, and then transforming it into something that can be experienced through the senses.”

What Question Should You (Actually) Start By Asking Yourself?

Marcos explains that the majority of people on the planet - when they are confronted or introduced to a possibility that either excites them or scares them - start with the question: “How?”. Unfortunately, those same people also usually don't actually have the thought process or the energy or the initiative to actually answer that question. It's a surface question, and many of us have been programmed and conditioned to ask that, and then, if you get confronted with the knowing that you don't know how, or you think it's impossible, then you end up doing nothing. So, instead Marcos advises us to choose which question you want to start with, which is the question that's going to inspire you to get started.

Use W Five H

W five H is who, what, when, where, why, and how. “‘How’ demands of us instant and immediate knowing of the answers to who, what, when, where, why, AND how. If you don't have the answers to all six questions from the initial sprout of that possibility, then you instantly trigger self-doubt, and start to think: well, that's too big of a goal, or that's not possible, or I'm not ready for that.” So, what Marcos invites us to consider instead as a first step, is to choose your question. For example, if you were to say who: ‘Who do I have to become in order to become that which I have now committed or am inspired to become?’ Or, ‘Who is going to benefit the most from this service or from this product or from this way of being or this opportunity?’

What? What can I do right now as one small step in order to get started so that I can take that leap and actually start to experience the momentum of my desires becoming a reality? When? When can I get started? Marcos reminds us that 99% of people say now, and while now is great, now isn't always the best answer because sometimes you may be premature in your beginning stages and then you actually just get frustrated. Remember that any worthwhile goal should be done with intelligence, with a strategy, with an effective plan of action. Essentially, “now” can look like many different things.

Where? Where are people going to get access to what it is that you're creating or where can you position yourself so that you can be noticed as a leading contributor or as a leading authority? Last but not least: why? Why is this important to the people that are going to be benefiting from the value you're contributing? Or why is this important to you? Or why is this a part of your burning desire? Or why do you have this motive to create this?

Marcos makes it clear that as we start to answer the above questions, the “how” automatically and organically figures itself out - without the strain or struggle. Hence, start with an intelligent question that resonates with what you can create in order to start to see it all unfold in a way that doesn't seem so impossible.

Own Your Expertise

Next to uncover is YOU - the person behind the vision. Marcos explains that a leading authority is usually considered an expert. “And in this market, in this day and age, how we're marketing - everyone has to be an expert”. He further shares that since social media is just content and community, the number one thing that is imperative for you to start doing is to become a leading contributor above and away from everyone else. “It's just you and your contribution.” It starts sharing everything that inspires you, everything that motivates you and you do that by following the system. Marcos calls it the impact theory - start sharing value that adds value and solves problems so that people can start to identify you as someone that solves problems as a leading contributor. What's going to happen organically is that people are going to start to recognize you as someone that is constantly showing up for the world through this knowledge. “It's going to become evident that you are committed, that you are passionate, that you are excited and that you know what you're talking about.”

Want to Level Up? Run a Seed Launch

When I asked Marcos about a technique he’s used and seen do well with his own clients looking to upgrade their business, he confidently suggested running what’s called a community activation campaign or a seed launch. What that means is essentially creating a product service cause or event that the market tells you they want rather than what you hope that they want. Marcos advises us to create a prototype sample of what your curriculum/program/workshop/retreat/products are like and put it out into a community. Gauge their interest before you invest all of your valuable time and energy into it!

The 4 Critical Steps for Manifesting a Vision into Reality

And without further ado, I’ll wrap up this video summary post with the 4 essential steps Marcos shares for making your dreams come to fruition.

  1. Take a stand. Take a stand for something that's going to change the world.
  2. Show up. Unlike ever before. That means discipline.
  3. Play a big game. Be unapologetically radical & unrealistic in your goals.
  4. Get the *bleep* out of your own way. This is a selfless way of you showing up - what you’re doing is ultimately good for the world
